As a parent I am guilty of comparisons all the time. I compare myself to other parents...
“That mom has such a clean house.” ... “That mom always does such creative activities with her kids.” ...
I compare my kids to each other and other kids... “That child is able to walk already.” “That child isn’t having a tantrum in the middle of the store- it must only happen with my kid.”
But, the truth is, everyone has their “thing.” The thing they’re good at. The thing they struggle with. Children with special needs are no different! Progress may be slower, there may be some discouraging developments, but they have talents and skills and a beautiful uniqueness that is all their own. Their time to “pop” is coming!
